Moemoeā (Sherrie Flanagan and Chloe Danz) met through their local amateur theatre group in Taranaki. Through this they began singing in a group Heatwave, doing various gigs and pre-show entertainment. They both come from musical backgrounds with combined experience in live and recorded music.  Their first song quickly came together, with an easy partnership with Sherries strength in writing lyrics and Chloe’s in composition/melody. They’ve been writing and performing ever since. 

While performing live their musical pairing is intimate and emotive, with the combination of their layered harmonies against an acoustic guitar. Their recorded sound gives them the opportunity to grow this sound with the influence, guidance, and expertise of Sam Johnson from Rhythm Ace studio. Their music is indie folk pop in style with a bit of a 90’s cinematic feel.

Moemoeā released their debut EP Flicker in February 2025 and have since released further singles Shh and Devil on your shoulder, all recorded and produced at Rhythm Ace Studio by Sam Johnson. They are looking to release 5 further singles in early 2026. Stay tuned for more information about further release dates and upcoming gigs.
